In our International Travels, we had visited many countries around the globe, ‘Pre-Coronavirus CV19’; and we now visit fewer, until the Influenza abates, as Influenzas do.

The main concern we have, as travelling International Businessmen, is not so much our health, as we have a exemplary diet regimen we all follow. No, the matter of our Personal Safety is of paramount importance. If one is accosted, aggressed, assailed, or attacked [take your pick], it can ruin ‘one’s whole day’. Business trips are NOT cheap, and are very time-consuming beforehand; preparation is worth its weight in Gold. To have a miscreant[s] engage in felonious behavior against us, is something we always are on the alert.

As we advise individuals and businesses as to budgets, projects, implementations, products, et al, we always put SAFETY up-front for they to consider. We routinely assess all the countries with whom we visit. If we think a country has leaders who do not ‘get it’, as to Citizens or Visitors’ safeties, we will do ‘an abort’ on recommending that country for commerce. Our strict criteria has been employed by all of us for decades and we have been fairly safe, with a few mishaps over the many years. As prepared as we can be, sometimes “‘Scata’ Happens” and we are trained in response procedures for our viabilities. The broken bones, burns, cuts, and scars some of us have, attest to the environments we were in. However, we are still here today; ably and enthusiastically working!

In Nations with tighter social controls, people feel safer. While Norway for example, a moderate-size country, has top-ranking for Safety, a gargantuan country as China, also excels. Younger Norway does not have 10,000+ years of culture behind it, as does the ‘Dragon’, but it understands “Safety Is Number One”. China’s leaders Wisdom have allowed it to endure and survive for a long time; another 10,000 years, we think, is likely [with ‘Public Safety’ as a key element].

Gallup gives a ’87’ ranking to the United States; we think that this will decline over time. The current, very weak Federal Administration, with its effete Selected President, has too many Puppet Masters telling him how to proceed for all that he does. His allowing American cities to burn this past summer, with next to no law enforcement, nor U.S. Department of Justice prosecutions of the various cities’ terrorists, says a great deal. Apparently their mantra is “‘Justice’, for Just Us”.

The United Arab Emirates at 95% can be easily comprehended by those who reside there or have visited. Security Personnel, are “On the Ball” in assuring ‘Peace and Quiet for All’. The smaller geographic size aids, we think in their mission. The capable Leaders understand the commercial significance of ‘Security’.

Austria, Croatia, Finland, Slovenia, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tajikistan are to also be congratulated. Their efficiencies in Security are well understood.

As for the various countries who received ‘less than the best scores’ we say: “Concentrate on Security if you want your country to financially prosper. No legitimate Corporation nor Investor will engage you, if ‘tyranny’ prevails against your public. Since we are of the opinion: ‘Crime Pays both to the criminal as well as government officials who allow it to occur; clean your house up if you want your country to prosper. Crime keeps occurring because some of you allow it, for your own gains. Wise Up!'”

Again, our ‘kudos’ to the Gallup Organization for a very informative report. To businessmen who want to prosper, we say: Marketing to the public [Products or Projects] is less effective when their consciousness is not on your message, but on their survival.

If People Do Not Want To Go Around The Mountain, They Can Call On The Chinese, Or Other Experts, To Go Through It

It is always of great interest to see Infrastructure Experts drill tunnels, build expansive bridges, hydro-electric plants, and such. A group of “Masters” of such events are the Chinese, for example [as they have shown again in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) tunnel project].

The Hajar Mountains has been a obstacle to travel in the UAE for centuries. The Chinese were contracted to design, construct, and implement a 1.7 kilometer (1.05 statute mile) train tunnel, of 14 meters (46 feet) in diameter through the mountain. The China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, in conjunction with Etihad Rail commenced construction in 2020 and should complete the entire project later this year.

There are many such Infrastructure projects, around the world, of even greater size than the aforementioned, completed by other Engineering Companies. We, in International Business, applaud them all. The skill sets required of each: To comprehend the complexities of the projects; Design and Perform to those needs; and do so, within budgets is laudable. The fact that so many nations are proceeding with such projects, as to Infrastructure needs of their citizens, is very good.

We have noticed, as a contrary, the politicians in Washington, D.C., in conjunction with their military advisors, have been so consumed in entering military forays, around the world, since World War II, that Infrastructure of the U.S. has been a consistent ‘also-ran’. Today, the Nation’s, $29+Trillion of ‘Direct Debt’ limits PRUDENT expenditures to support Infrastructure construction needs.

The unfortunate level of America’s debt will only get worse with ‘Trillion of Dollars’ thrown into the deep ‘money pit’ which exists. Fanciful Infrastructure projects emanating, will be certain, we think, to benefit families, friends, and other associates of the current politicians [who are proposing such construction activities]. Since they have all been ‘asleep at the wheel’, for so many decades as to the subject of Infrastructure, we are skeptical of their motives. Many of them are about ready to retire; perhaps they want additional funds beyond what they have already gained over the years? Career politicians, most are. They were of moderate means commencing “Service to their Country”, and many will leave as multi-millionaires. Voila!

We recommend, to the younger generation that it consider Civil Engineering careers as excellent ways to help oneself, as one ACTUALLY helps one’s country. Ethnocentric considerations can provide the impetus to succeed, while studying, Chemistry, Engineering, Geology, Physics, and other science subjects. Ancient cultures prove this is the case: Look at the Great Wall of China, a miraculous engineering feat, by those who understood the aforementioned science subjects.

Reality: While Tunnels help people to get from Point ‘A’ to Point ‘B’ quickly, Strong Walls make for Good Neighbors; Both require Civil Engineering.

News Analysis: Arab Aircraft Purchasers, just like others “Big-Ticket” Buyers in the World, want Good Fundamentals to be offered to COMPEL THEM to choose a particular Weapon System. These Basics are not limited to, but include: Performance, Reliability, Cost To Purchase, Cost To Maintain, Deliver-ability, and, Manufacturer/Purchaser Affinity. 

All too often, the Naïve Western Business Community (NWBC), think because a “Voted-In- Politician”(VIP) is going to meet with  Arab  Customers, these ‘Prospects’ will be “Emotionally Joyous” as to the visit. That they will immediately ‘Sign on the Dotted Line’ and buy the Weapon System the ‘NWBC’ have no doubt. In fact, upon hearing about a ‘VIP’ visiting an Air Show, for example, the Air Frame’s Stock is purchased immediately by the Naïve. The ‘NWBC’ forget that the Decision Makers for such purchases are the Royalty of the Country. As such, Monarchs being impressed by a ‘VIP’  visiting them as a mere salesman is laughable indeed; How Naïve! It is disrespectful of the Monarchy. Inappropriately, in Weapon System Procurements of any kind, the Arab Culture has often  been very poorly judged by the ‘NWBC’.

The United Arab Emirates, in its wisdom, will purchase what IT considers best for itself (as must be the case).

The ‘NWBC’ should stop looking at the others with ‘blinders’ on and instead use “Panoramic Vision”.

As the Financial Growth of the Arab World continues to rapidly accelerate, the Leaders of the ‘NWBC’ will have to admit their past failed approaches to Arab Customers. Once there is Real Contrition by these ‘Failed’ Leaders, they may ‘Wise-Up’ and treat their Middle-East Customers with Actual Respect. Arab Customers have the ENTIRE WORLD from which to purchase what they want. For the ‘NWBC’ to continue treating the Arabs as “Naïve” by sending them ‘VIPs’ , to impress Monarchs, will gain them nothing.

News Analysis: Citizens Are A Nation’s Greatest Abundant Treasure for it needs their Actions, Energies, and Intelligent Thoughts to Prosper. Wise leaders of Countries, be they Democratic or Monarchical, Understand this simple Maxim; Oppressive Dictatorships do not.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), being ideally located, has allowed its Leaders to learn, in part, from Centuries of Communication and Trade with other Peoples. They realize that: “Any Gain Must Be Maintained” (for a Nation to Prosper). The Quality of a Country’s Citizens will improve if proper Direction is provided by its Leaders. An Ethos of: Benevolence, Good Education; Honesty; Industriousness; and, Piety starts with the Leaders and ‘Trickles Down’ to the Citizens. Those elements will make for an Enthusiastic and Happy Citizenry; Visitors to the country cannot help but feel the Energy (it is Contagious).
